"Help, help! Our excavator got stuck in marsh areas. The engine cannot work. What is worse, the mud has almost submerged the cab. What should I do? I think it’s going to be scrapped!” a customer said fretfully and despairingly in a call. The service staff at GOLDEN BAOBAB, SDLG dealer in Zambia, answered the call and told the customer to turn off the battery switch, disconnect the battery circuit and not try to start the engine again, so as to avoid burning the electrical components and make more water come into the engine. Meanwhile, the service workers quickly packed up tools and spare parts and rushed to the site.
When got there two hours later, they were astonished by what they had seen. The situation was far worse than they imagined. The machine almost sunk into the mud because of the driver’s improper operation. It would be a huge challenge to “revive” this machine.
The service workers quickly worked out an emergency action plan. At first, they used the water pump to drain the water overnight. Then, they managed to lift the engine assembly to overhaul, since a lot of water had seeped into the cylinders. They spent a whole day to inspect all electrical components and connectors and finally the engine was recovered and reassembled to the machine. The excavator came back to life. The next challenge is how to drive the machine out. By all means, they tried to get the ground under the track solid. When the excavator got rid of the mud and got out, everyone burst into cheers. “You are great! You make the impossible possible!” the customer jumped with joy.
On the fourth day, all the parts that seeped into water were disassembled, cleaned and dried. After reassembly, the excavator was basically recovered. “Thank you so much. You really saved me a lot of money,” the customer said excitedly. The dealer then carried out trainings about operation and maintenance standards for the driver and customer on site.
In 72 hours, SDLG service workers made the impossible possible, which fully proved the reliability of SDLG machine and service ability of SDLG service workers.
